Diodes – Function and Applications
Diodes are electronic components that conduct electrical current in one direction and block it in the opposite direction.
Areas of application for our diodes:
- Rectification – Conversion of alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC), e.g., in power supplies.
- Protection circuits – Prevention of voltage spikes or reverse polarity damage.
- Signal diodes – Use in high-frequency and logic circuits.
- Freewheeling diodes – Protection of coils and relays from voltage spikes.
Depending on their design and properties, there are different types of diodes, such as Schottky diodes, Zener diodes, or LEDs, which are optimized for specific applications.
